It was a good weekend for the Lions !
Lions,
On Saturday we played Oranje the dutch team in the SIFL. We had a strong line up and motivated Lions to work on scoring goals. The weather was hard for the coach and subs and supporters as the temperature dropped to 4 degrees and it was raining. Nonetheless the Lions took the game serious and focused on short passes. Azzeddine opened the score with a hard strike slightly deflected and Danni tried the same and score two goals in 5 minutes. It was 3-0 at half time and we decided to keep trying to score more goals and to focus on our field play with a lot of possession. Azzeddine made it 4-0 and when we got a penalty it was time for Patrick to step up back from a long injury he scored in the left corner. Laid and Arnault both scored to make the final score 7-0. It was good for our goal difference as we kept the clean sheet and conceded only one goal in the last 5 games !
On Sunday morning the Legends participated in the SPL V Santa Cup. A fun tournament where every player had to wear a santa hat during the games. We had a strong line up but lost two players after 5 minutes as both Max and Matze were hindered by old injuries from the championship game against Scotland the week before. We defended well in our group stage games as nobody could score against us. We scored plenty of goals with Charles and Fred in fine form we even beat the best 7 aside team Japan 2-0 ! So were in the final but we didn’t expect to get a goal against us early in the game. It changed the game and we were forced to push forward Seb came closest but his effort hit the cross bar. In the end FC Strosso won it and we accepted defeat ! Afterwards we did get our SPL V Championships trophy of the 2015 season. It was a great way to end a great season for the Lions Legends !
In the SPL we faced Galacticos and in this game we needed as well to work on our goal difference we did just that with goals from Nicolas / Dave / Patrick and Arnault 4x ! A good result and happy with the cleansheet. The SPL will take a brean now and will be back in 2016 !
We will have our Christmas Party this Friday @ Mortons and we hope that many Lions will attend as this is the time of the year to celebrate a great 2015 for the Lions FC !
