SPL is back on track !

Amigo’s and Amiga’s,

Finally we are back in full swing and hopefully the weather will stay good until the end of the year as we need to catch up with the schedule. We will add December 6th as another league game date and are working to get approval for the Santa Cup to be held on December the 13th. We had some great games last Sunday and what stood out is the mutual respect the teams and players have for each other after knowing each other for several years ! One other positive is that the referees are improving ! One reason is that we now have the older referees officiating in the SPL for Veterans which is great ! As well they took our advice in the beginning of the season to keep the games more fluent and less interruptions.

Marlins – Gremio 3-4

A great game of football ! Gremio struggled in the first 15 minutes as their goalie was not on time and Mika had to be the stand in he saw a fantasctic top corner strike from Gui fly in the net. Once gremio had their squad in tact they created more chances in the end Francesco scored just before half time the equalizer 1-1. In the second half both teams were trying to take the lead. It was a typical run from Wilson which gave the Marlins the lead again but it was Francesco again who equalized. When the Marlins scored by an unlucky “handball” penalty most Gremio players thought they would not be able to come back for a third time, but…….Francesco did it again by scoring his hat-trick.  Gremio boosted by the goal even took the lead with a low hard strike by Roger. The Marlins tried everything to come back but in the end the referee blew the whistle. Banksy the Marlins Captain showed good sportsmanship by congratulation Mika over the we chat after the game.

ERS – Krauts 3-1

Both teams started with thin squads the first half was all about Stas from the Krauts the SPl topscorer of the last couple of years. He had three one on ones with Hugo the ERS goalie and he hit the post in the ERS kept the damage to 1 goal only by him. 0-1 at half time ! The second half saw a different game as some Krauts players started to get tired and ERS started to push them back. In the end they got their reward by a goal of Viet. Krauts were unlucky to concede a handball in the box and ERS took the lead after Nico put the ball in the net. Stas had a golden opportunity to equalize but he missed as Hugo saved it ! A good run by Viet was finished by Nico to make the final score 3-1 win for ERS.

Century Park FC – Japan 8-2

Century park started with full force and speed sending their youngsters on a rampage. Within 15 minutes it was 2-0 and they kept pushing forward and Japan had at least for now no response as it was 3-0,4-0 and 5-0 at half time. Big man was Daniel Kim scoring 4 of the goals. As Century Park new about the fresh legs of the Japanese players for the second half they as well used some fresh players and the game became faster both teams found the net this time 3-2 for century park to make the final score 8-2

The league is very interesting this season as all teams have lost some points down the road and it looks like anything can happen this time which makes every week exciting. Great for everybody maybe nerve wrecking for the managers but let’s enjoy it !
