4 wins in 4 games for the Legends

It was a beautiful day on Sunday and our legends were up against a Japanese team, the Strosso FC. We had a good mix of players and Mike was kind enough to replace our goalkeeper Clement who was injured. The objective was simple with 4 wins in 4 games. The plan was to start strong from the kick-off and to look for plenty of goals and a clean sheet as goal difference does matter if you want to go for the top spot in the SPL V league

For 10 minutes we didn’t play well. Some blamed it on the difficult pitch and some were simply not awake yet. Strosso FC got 2 corners and a free kick and we didn’t create much as all players were static and not moving. But in the last part of the first 20 minutes, we got used to the field and started to use the space on the wings. It was a run by Moussa on the left which set up an easy tip-in for Nicolas two meters from the line but somehow he managed to launch the ball into orbit. Soon after Moussa was brought down in the box and our captain Haroun didn’t hesitate to give us the lead with a low strike in the right corner. Nicolas got a 2nd chance to score and this time he did the job and gave us a two-nil lead after 20 minutes.

In the second 20 minutes, FL our sweeper either thought Christmas would come early this year or he thought Mike our goalie didn’t get enough balls… He passed him a high ball from outside the box only to see the ball flying over Mike in our own goal.  We decided to count it as an official goal and as well a BIG contender for the goal of the season. We didn’t panic after this but instead, Nikko used his powerful left foot to blast the ball behind the Japanese goalie just outside the box. Good old Tomas thought “what you can do I can do as well” and he tried his luck with a long-range left-foot shot and ended nicely in the left top corner.

Substitutions were made and in the 3rd 20 minutes. On a run from the left-wing, Moussa found Haroun who scored his 2nd of the day with an easy tip-in. Soon after, David almost broke the crossbar with a rocket launch for his debut with the Legends.

After that, it was time for our President to enter. His objective was clear and simple… Score a goal for his 38th birthday! A great free-kick from Skiv did find the head of the President but unfortunately, his effort went left of the post. Moussa did score at the end it made the final score 6-1 win. Objective achieved with 4 wins in 4 games for the Legends.

[ SPL V ] Shanghai Lions FC 6-1 Strosso FC

The beers and the birthday cake tasted good after the match and some legends continued their Sunday Happiness at our sponsor Senso.

Great job Legends. Next up will be Wellington at 11:00 next Sunday.

Cheers
Happy Freek
