Legends beat local Nail FC in friendly game

In preparation for the new season 2021/2022, our legends had a friendly game vs. enthusiastic local opponent Nail FC.  The grass field at L sports park was beautiful. The weather was super super hot with 35 degrees and a feel factor of 43 degrees.

We started in 4-4-2 with the 2 Nico on top and Mike in the goal. We started well moving the ball around but soon we realized it wouldn’t be an easy match due to heat. Samad came thru a couple of times on the left-wing. On one of his crosses, Nikko gave us an early lead with an easy tip-in.

With this early lead in hand, we dropped our game and started to play long balls which was not a good idea. Mike on his side had to make a great save to keep us out of trouble. At the 1st break, we had the chance to correct it and our second goal was a great example of how to play… From the right defense, the ball quickly reached Skiv in the midfield for a beautiful chip over the defense… Hira-san didn’t hesitate to finish for the 2-0 lead.

In the last part of the game, Freek came close to score after a nice one-two with Haroun outpacing his opponent… believe it or not!!! He tried to put the ball in the far left corner with the outside of his foot but his effort ended up on the wrong side of the post. Our opponent didn’t give up and pushed forward at the end of the game to finally get the goal they deserved. Skiv did settle the score for the 3-1 with a nice direct corner flying over the keeper.

[ Friendly ] Shanghai Lions FC 3-1 Nail FC

On September 12th, we will play another friendly game against the Lions’ senior team. By that time, we should be ready for our 1st league match vs. the Shanghai English on September 19th.

Well done Legends!

Cheers
Freek
