Legends keep winning

Last Sunday, we had an early kick-off and it was great to see the whole team motivated from the warming up with the objective to keep winning. Wellington seemed to have some players missing before the game to finally make the number just before kick-off. From the early game on, it was not clear if they were interested to play as they blasted two of our balls over the fence… maybe that was part of their strategy to slow down the game.

We started well with Hira and Nico wide on the wings and good motions through the middle. It was David who scored his 1st goal for the Lions with a fine header over the Wellington keeper. Wellington had one striker upfront but Jack who made his come back after his quarantine made sure he was no danger to us. While David blasted the crossbar with a fine strike last week from outside the box; he tried the exact same one again which flew into the net for the 2-0.

In the second 20 minutes, we asked to get more players coming from behind into the box. FL tried his luck first to get clearly fouled in the box… Unfortunately, only the referee didn’t see it. Soon after Sylvain got tackled from behind into the box as well… The same again with the referee but we have proof that he was wrong on the 2 occasions. On the other side, Jack had to take care of the striker and he did that with a fine sliding outside our box… He just forgot that sliding tackles were not allowed in the SPL Veteran league. We got lucky this time as he could have got a red card on top of a free-kick.

In the second part of the game, we made some rotations so that every player could have his minutes. Mehdi got launched by Nicolas and he placed the ball very nicely in the left corner. His 1st goal for the Legends and he opted for retirement after this glorious moment. Tomas got his name on the score sheet as well with a low strike after a good combination. While all seemed ok being four-nill up, we switched off and didn’t play together anymore. We got punished after a few minutes as Wellington got a goal back.

In the last 20 minutes, we put ourselves back on track and kept possession… No more danger from the Wellington players. Instead, we got Mike on the score sheet after a great assist from Kevin. Legends keep winning with this 5-1 as the final score.

The beer didn’t taste well because they stopped selling beers at SCSC (no comments). However, some of the players ended up at our sponsor Senso for a nice lunch served by Severino and his wife. A great way to end a great Sunday.

Next Sunday, we will play at 11:00 against the local team Nail FC. Let’s go Legends and keep winning!

Cheers
