Legends scored great goals to beat Strosso
It was a rainy weekend but somehow the “weather god” is a fan of the Lions as he stopped the rain for our game. We had solid squad with only a keeper missing but we had Othman kind enough to take up this job. Objective of the day was to keep the clean-sheet and to score many great goals… This against our opponent Strosso; a Japanese team well known for their never give up mentality.
We started well moving the ball around on the difficult pitch as there were still areas with water on the field due to the rain. It was a cross of Germain which flew over the keeper that gave us a 1-0 lead. Strosso decided to sit back with the whole team and didn’t pose a threat in the first 20 minutes.
In the second 20 minutes, we continued with our high intensity and were dangerous moving the ball fast from our defenders to the wingers and had several good crosses to our forwards. It was a super strike of Fred which left the Strosso goalie helpless and another good attack which ended with Ben Mao on the wing and his cross in was happily moved over the line by our last man Lolo to give us a 3-0 lead. Fred almost scored another good strike but the ball just went wide. Fred got one more tip in to make it 4-0.
In the third 20 minutes, we waisted a couple of opportunities and got a second goal of Lolo disallowed from off-side… According to the VAR.
However in the last 20 minutes we went for a good finish. It was a strike from Germain that made his second goal on the day and another goal from Fred to complete his hat-trick that lifted our mood. We were determined to get a clean sheet and when Othmane our stand in keeper was fouled in his box but the referee let Strosso score it was a bit of a damper. However Mamdouh finish in the last 5 minutes and in the top right corner was our icing on the cake.
Overall it was a good and disciplined performance of the Legends and in the end we were happy with the 7-1 win & great goals on a late afternoon in Shanghai.
