Lions beat Pures in rainy saturday

Well, it was a rainy Saturday as the rain simply didn’t stop. The field was ok but did have a couple of wet patches which made our passing game a bit harder. Peter was unfortunately still injured after his Legends match and Hira-san is still recovering from his broken arm.

We were happy to have Paul our goalie back in the squad and as well we were happy to give playing time to our guest youth keeper Theo who currently plays in Auxerre U17 together with Louka.

Pures strategy was to sit back and defend with the whole team and wait for one or two counters. We putted the pressure on from the beginning but also realized that the pitch was not easy to play on. We got a couple of shots but lacked the power and or the right direction. However it was our youngster Tommy set free by Amine who broke the dead lock with very well placed shot away from the keeper. Soon we scored a second this time with an assist of Sebastian to Melvin who had no problem to finish from close range.

Charlie who was eager to get his name on the score sheet after he missed a couple of chances and did so after a perfect corner from Amine with a good header. Three nil at half time it was time to rotate the players and make sure everyone got plenty of playing time.

In the second half, Pures had a good spell and Theo had to make a good safe however Pures did score with a great long range shot.

For us the second half was more about the missed opportunities many chances were waisted. Yes Melvin and Othello scored simple goals but when Sebastian went on a run by himself and didn’t see anyone to pass to he went for it and blasted the ball in the roof of the net. That goal brought the smiles back on our faces. It’s great to see that our youngest players are getting better and better each week.

Next Saturday we will have a BIG game against Azzurri. We are looking forward to a good result & let’s hope for a non rainy Saturday.

Lets go Lions!

Cheers
