Lions Clinch SPL Double in Cup Final Shootout

Lions Clinch the SPL Double for the Second Year in a Row

What a day for the Lions! It all started with perfect preparation for the Cup Final—everyone on time, focused, and ready to make history by securing the SPL double. The Hawks, on the other hand, had cobbled together a squad featuring the best of the Azzurri, a few Chinese players, and even an ex-international who happens to be a football anchor on CCTV… but they couldn’t even start on time due to missing jerseys.

First Half: Strike Early, Defend Hard

Our strategy was simple: strike during their down moments, and hold the line when they were playing at their best. And that’s exactly what we did. Just a few minutes in, Arnaud delivered a brilliant pass to Charles, who calmly slotted it home. The goal came so early that Jamie missed it entirely—he thought we were 1-0 down at halftime!

The Hawks ramped up their intensity, with Adam (SIFL top scorer) and Romilson (SPL top scorer) piling on the pressure. Adam equalized with a sharp low strike. Max made some fantastic saves, and goal-line clearances from Gwenn and others kept us in the game.

Second Half: Drama and Determination

We came out stronger in the second half, though the game remained tense and tight. When the Brazilians started showing signs of frustration, we seized our moment:
Charles, instead of shooting, swung a cross to Jerome on the right. Jerome returned it across the goalmouth, perfectly onto Matthieu’s head—who had just come on for Johnny O Johnny. 2-1 for the Lions!

We thought the trophy was ours… but disaster struck in the final minute. A long goal kick found its way to Romilson, who didn’t hesitate. 2-2. We were stunned. Heads down.

Penalty Shootout: Killer Instinct

A quick pep talk turned things around—we flipped the switch and went into full killer mode.
We scored all five penalties. The Hawks’ four Brazilians did the same… but their Japanese substitute hit the post.

The joy of winning the Cup Final and clinching the SPL double—just unforgettable. That moment when all the hard work, sweat, and team effort paid off. It was fully deserved. We showed incredible mental strength, and that’s what set us apart this season.
