Shanghai Lions players celebrating 8–0 victory over ERS in SPL match.

Lions Dominate ERS 8–0 to Cement Second Place in SPL

Sunday’s performance was nothing short of relentless dominance as we roared past ERS with a massive 8–0 win, solidifying our position in second place in the SPL standings.

Fueled by the knowledge that Gremio/Hawks had lost 1–3 to Flamenkos, we stepped onto the Waigaoqiao pitch knowing exactly what needed to be done—and we delivered.

🚀 Fast Start, Ruthless Finish

The match plan was clear: strike early and hard. Within the first 15 minutes, we were already 2–0 up, and by halftime, we had added a third, courtesy of a helpful own goal (merci beaucoup!).

Although the scoreline was comfortable, halftime was used to reset the intensity, as a few players were playing slightly below par. The message was clear: goal difference could be the key decider at the end of the season.

⚽ Goals Galore & Milestone Moments

The second half saw a flurry of goals and personal milestones:

  • 🧨 Adam netted his first-ever goal for the Lions
  • 🧠 Lucas, our rising youngster, got on the scoresheet
  • 🇺🇸 Michael W made history, becoming the first Kansan to score for the Lions on Chinese soil (rumor has it his boots are now in the Shanghai Football Museum)

Even though Martin had an “off day” with just two goals (!), the 8–0 final score marks our largest-ever win over ERS, adding more firepower to our already stellar goal difference.

  • Strong defensive shape and clinical finishing
  • Top-class team spirit, intensity, and motivation

This performance shows we’re serious contenders in this SPL title race. And no, we don’t really dislike the French—just on matchdays. 😉
