Lions Legends celebrate goal in 6–2 win over Wellington

Lions Legends Dominate Late to Beat Wellington 6–2!

On a perfect spring Sunday in Shanghai, the Lions Legends took full advantage of Wellington’s late collapse to secure a confident 6-2 victory at the lush pitches of Wellington School.

The match started with a cautious approach, as the Lions focused on possession and avoided early counterattacks. Despite Wellington fielding four attackers, the Lions found pockets of space in midfield. Mamdouh opened the scoring with a speculative shot that slipped through the goalkeeper’s gloves—“goal of the season” claims were quickly dismissed by his teammates. Moments later, Hira-san unleashed a long-range strike from the right wing that soared into the top left corner. Against the run of play, Lions found themselves up 2-0.

In the second 20-minute segment, Wellington’s red-socked winger created havoc. The hosts got one back with a curling shot that clipped the post on its way in and nearly equalized after smashing the crossbar. A great move involving Germain and Pierre almost restored the two-goal lead, but Mamdouh’s volley drifted wide.

Fresh legs in the third quarter helped the Lions regain control. A miscleared cross from Seungbok fell kindly for Pierre to make it 3–1, but Wellington responded with a brilliantly taken free-kick—3–2 at the break.

In the final 20 minutes, the Lions powered forward. A clever one-two between Germain and Pierre resulted in a fourth goal. Cyril then fired an unstoppable drive into the top corner for 5–2, before Mamdouh sealed the win with an outside-foot finish for his brace.
