Shanghai Lions dominate SIFL and SPL matches in February 2013 with big wins against Azzurri FC and Galacticos FC.

Lions Stay on Top of SIFL & SPL

After a well-deserved Chinese New Year break, the Lions came back sharp and motivated — and it showed on the pitch. With strong wins in both leagues, we continue our unbeaten run in 2013 and remain top of the table in both SIFL and SPL!

⚽ [SIFL] Azzurri FC 0–6 Shanghai Lions

📆 February 23, 2013

This match was marked as one of the most important of the season, and for the first time, the word “championship” started circulating.

Despite a sloppy first half, our defense and bench depth made the difference. A great cross from captain Jerome found Remy, who opened the score just before halftime. Fueled by a mysterious vitamin water and his own determination, Jerome then blasted a rocket into the top corner — a clear contender for goal of the season.

Second half dominance followed:

  • Matthieu scored twice with headers (reason enough not to cut his hair?)
  • Jonny scored with his right foot (he’s a lefty!)
  • Romain buried a one-on-one
  • Gwenn missed a similar chance (but still put in a solid shift)

Final score: 6–0
🟢 12 games unbeaten
🟢 69 goals scored
🟢 13 conceded
🟢 Ice-cold beers to celebrate

🏆 Next: A must-win Cup match next weekend as we chase the double!

⚽ [SPL] Galacticos FC 0–11 Shanghai Lions

📆 February 24, 2013

With a lighter squad and an opponent stuck at the bottom of the table, the focus was on boosting goal difference — and we did just that.

First half:

  • Joel launched a penalty into orbit
  • Ahmet missed from under a meter
  • ⏱️ Only 2–0 at halftime

Second half:

  • 🔁 Formation switch = total domination
  • 🔟 Galacticos down to 10 men
  • Gwenn surprisingly scored two (missed three more, muttering “Putain Putain”)
  • Michael missed a header from two feet (claiming the goal was “too close to see”)
  • 🧤 Thomas had a quiet day but secured our 4th clean sheet in a row

Final score: 11–0

🔝 With this, we now lead the SPL standings and are building serious momentum.
