Senior team beat Anzacs 4-2

Lions we had a small squad on Saturday but with the help from youth players we still managed to get a solid team. For us, only a win would do and we started the game well vs. Anzacs.

We moved the ball quickly and kept good spells of possession with Peter in the middle and Samba making his come back as left midfielder and Skiv for the occasion on the right wing and Hsam back as No. 6.

Our first goal was a beauty! It started from the back with 3 combinations followed by a great one two between Samba and Hira-san who quickly crossed the ball and Nolann was there in the right place to score his first official goal for the Lions.

We were chasing more goals and thought we got a penalty when a Hira-san cross-in was stopped by an Anzacs hand but the referee apparently didn’t see it… 5 minutes later, it was the on-fire Hira-san who was fouled in the box and we got our penalty. Samba stood up to take the responsibility.

Peter got a good chance with a free kick at a dangerous spot but he decided to launch the ball into orbit instead of into the goal.

Anzacs showed character and came back with the same free-kick as a few weeks back… Forward unmarked scoring with a free header 🙁

At the half time talk, we all agreed to make sure we didn’t get free kicks against us as Anzacs was strong in set pieces. We struggled to keep possession and found us more under pressure in the second half. They did get plenty of free kicks and Marcel our goalie made important saves to keep our lead.

It was a superb pass from Peter to set free Hira-san who ran the same speed as a bullet train and finished nicely. We thought it would be easy now leading 3-1 but Anzacs came back again after a free kick and poor marking from our side.

However, towards the end it was Hira-san again who at that time was already voted MOM with great cross in from the left to Seiwa who was happy to blast the ball in the net.

We thought Louka our youngest player would score the icing on the cake when he came one on one with the opponent keeper but he saw his effort go wide.

In the end, it was a good win but we conceded too many free kicks which kept Anzacs in the game until the very end.

Back to training on Tuesday.

Cheers
