A Studious Weekend for the Lions: Two Wins, One Mission
The Shanghai Lions enjoyed a productive weekend both on and off the pitch — with back-to-back victories in a friendly and a crucial SPL match as the club gears up for the second half of the season.
[ Friendly ] Shanghai Lions 7–0 Gremio
With no official goalkeeper available on Saturday, the Lions uncovered surprise talents between the posts: Gwen and Allan, both stepping up in impressive fashion. The match was arranged to prepare tactically for the upcoming clash against DIB, and the outcome was a statement — 7 goals, 0 conceded, and even President Freek got on the scoreboard from the penalty spot.
Highlights:
- 🎯 Clinical finishing
- 💪 Solid defensive performance
- 👏 Return of Chris S. after a long injury layoff
[ SPL ] Century Park FC 0–3 Shanghai Lions
The Sunday match was more serious — facing Shanghai 2000 in a must-win to stay in title contention. Despite a minor tech sabotage by Simon and Gwen (no lineup posted online!), the Lions came out focused and in full spirit, cheered on by Jeff’s twin daughters dancing during warmup.
The Lions struck fast:
- ⚽ Adam with a strong header (5′)
- ⚽ Joel finding the net soon after
- ⚽ Terao-san blasting in the third
Unfortunately, Amine dislocated his shoulder in the second half, though it was quickly reset at the hospital. And Michael? He found himself cramped in both legs — possibly due to a late-night snack combo of alcohol and potato chips…
Despite a few missed open-goal chances, the Lions secured a clean 3–0 win.
“Something for the next training: finish in front of an open goal!”
