[ SPL News ] Big Wins and Halloween Hangovers
Amigo’s and Amiga’s,
Last Sunday marked our first 5-match SPL weekend across three venues, with Waigaoqiao reopening now that the cricketers are clearing out. While logistically more complex, this setup allows us to maximize game time and keep the league flowing.
🔔 A few important reminders:
- Teams who haven’t yet paid their league fees—please contact me ASAP to make arrangements.
- Mark your calendars: Santa Cup 2012 will take place on December 16th and promises to be the biggest edition ever, with 20+ teams expected. Hopefully, a bit of snow adds to the festive mood!
⚽ Matchday Highlights – October 28, 2012
Gremio 3–0 Super 48
📍 Jinqiao
Gremio (formerly Hawks) debuted their new identity with flair and flair—complete with cameras and samba vibes. Despite missing many chances, they comfortably beat Super 48, whose two rotating goalkeepers did well to limit the damage.
Japan FC 1–1 Shanghai Lions
📍 Waigaoqiao | 10:00 AM Kickoff
An early morning match and some Halloween hangovers clearly hampered the Lions. Despite controlling the game, they failed to convert their chances. Japan capitalized on the opportunity, holding on for a valuable point.
Shanghai 2000 FC 3–4 ERS
📍 Century Park
A high-intensity match saw ERS remain unbeaten, thanks to a clinical hat-trick by in-form Nico Ch. Shanghai 2000 showed real progress and pushed ERS to the final whistle.
Pistolera Bulls 1–10 Cowboys
📍 Waigaoqiao
A stunning performance by the Cowboys saw them up 3–0 within 15 minutes. The Bulls had no answers as the Cowboys stormed through the game, clearly showing who controls the range!
Marlins 13–1 Galacticos
📍 Jinqiao
A scoreline more reminiscent of rugby! Fedja continues to be a goal machine, already netting 14 goals this season. A warning to all SPL defenders: mark him closely—or pay the price!
