[ SPL News ] 5 Rounds to Go
Amigos and Amigas,
Last Sunday featured a full five-game SPL schedule, helping us catch up on most postponed fixtures. If the weather holds, we’ll be able to wrap up the season as planned—and we can begin thinking about the 10-Year SPL Anniversary for next season!
🧨 Matchday Recap
⚽ Flamenkos 9–1 Super 48
The Flamenkos strikers had a field day, with Joost and Josue both bagging hat-tricks. Super 48 will need to push hard to collect more points this season. Interestingly, their final match will again be against Galacticos—just like last year, when they pulled off a surprise win.
⚽ Lions 1–1 Cowboys
This match was sadly overshadowed by a serious injury to Lions player Mus, who suffered a deep leg gash from an unintentional Cowboys tackle. He was rushed to the hospital and received 15 stitches. Fortunately, there was no further structural damage, but he’ll be sidelined for quite a while. Both teams were shaken, but the referee insisted the match continue.
➡️ We all wish Mus a full and speedy recovery and hope to see him back on the pitch again someday.
⚽ Hawks 3–0 Galacticos
The Hawks remain on course for their second SPL title. Statistically, if they keep winning, they’ll be crowned champions. Galacticos, despite the loss, can take pride in their strong performance against the league leaders.
⚽ ERS 3–4 Pistolera Bulls
An SPL classic! ERS led 3–1 at halftime and looked set to climb high in the standings. But the Bulls—known for their late-game rage—roared back with three second-half goals, including a late winner.
💥 Final score: 4–3 to the Bulls.
Somewhere up there, Michael J. would have been proud.
