[SPL News] Shanghai 2000 debut in the SPL

Amigo’s and Amiga’s,

We made history last Sunday: with Shanghai 2000 FC officially debuting in the SPL, we now have an 11-team 11-a-side league! Not bad if we look back at our humble beginnings, when the SPL started with just six teams. More teams mean more matches, more competition—and, above all, more fun!

🧨 Matchday Highlights – October 21, 2012

ERS 4–1 Japan
A solid performance from the French side, dominating most of the game. Chamak stole the show with a fine hat-trick. Japan seems to be struggling early in the season, but rumors suggest they’re hiring a sumo striker to help keep possession up front!

Hawks 5–0 Galacticos
The Hawks—soon to be renamed Gremio Shanghai—were simply too strong on the day. With Galacticos rebuilding and Danielle set to leave for Europe, they’re going through a transitional phase. A friendly, clean game—no cards, no drama.

Marlins 11–0 Super 48
The blue wall collapsed under the Marlins’ relentless attack. Gui, the SIFL top scorer, showed no mercy and bagged five goals. Super 48 couldn’t even manage their usual consolation goal!

Shanghai 2000 2–6 Lions
What a beautiful debut venue—Century Park lived up to expectations! Lions dominated possession but only scored once in the first half. Tactical adjustments after the break led to five more goals, including one from President Freek himself, who is now in a neck-and-neck race with Yamada-san for the SPL’s “Oldest Goalscorer” trophy. Shanghai 2000 showed spirit and scored two late goals as the Lions eased off.

📌 A Reminder to All Captains:

With 11 teams and three venues, our match calendar is packed. There’s limited room for postponements. Please get your teams organized early and avoid requesting reschedules. If you can manage a swap and gain full captain consensus, that’s acceptable.
