As the Year of the Dragon comes to a close, the SPL continues to heat up! We wrapped up three key fixtures ahead of the Chinese New Year break, and it’s clear that 2013 — the Year of the Snake — will be one to watch.
🧱 Super 48 2–3 Gremio
Super 48’s transformation continues to surprise. Their secrets?
- Their goalie is… getting bigger — covering more goal area
- They’ve mastered the diamond-shaped blue wall
- Rumor has it… there’s some voodoo magic involved
It nearly worked again! Gremio struggled despite dominating, missing two penalties and hitting the post several times. Super 48 held strong and are clearly improving.
🐂 Pistolera Bulls 0–1 Flamenkos
Bilgin’s unbeaten run came to an end with a shock early goal from Flamenkos’ newcomer Dave. Despite heavy pressure in the final minutes (including 5 corners in 5 minutes), the Bulls couldn’t break through.
- ⭐ Man of the Match: Flamenkos goalkeeper
- ❌ No cards were issued… which somehow left Bilgin disappointed!
🇫🇷 ERS 0–3 Shanghai Lions (Feb 3, 2013)
With strong wind in Waigaoqiao, the Lions took early control. They dominated the midfield, and combinations came easier in the first half.
- ⚽ Garret scored a rare brace
- ⚽ Ahmet added a third
In the second half, the Lions kept a clean sheet and collected all 3 points — climbing to top of the SPL table, as the Cowboys went on an extended CNY break.
