[ SPL News ] A Great Season 9 Comes to a Close
Amigo’s and Amiga’s,
All good things must come to an end—and last Sunday we wrapped up Season 9 of the SPL with the final four league matches.
Let’s take a look at the final standings and celebrate another year of competitive, spirited football in Green City!
🥉 10. Galacticos
They struggled this year after losing key players from last season. Despite difficulties fielding a consistent squad, they fought hard until the final whistle. We’re confident they’ll bounce back stronger next season!
🧱 9. Super 48
With a new coach rumored to earn more than Mourinho 😄, they added grit to their game, picking up their first-ever red card (and several yellows). Famous for their blue wall and chain-smoking goalies, their goal is simple: climb one spot per season, meaning they’ll be champions in 2022… as Super 58!
🐄 8. Cowboys
In their debut SPL season, they scored 41 goals—impressive! But conceding 88 highlights where they’ll need work. A welcome addition to the SPL family, and we’re sure they’ve learned a lot.
🎢 7. Japan
A true rollercoaster: brilliant and baffling in equal measure. Their highlight? Yamada-san becoming the oldest SPL scorer at 62 years young! Their 11-to-38 player swings kept everyone guessing.
🔥 6. Flamenkos
Last year’s runner-up found themselves mid-table this season. Losing their star player to Madrid hurt, and towards the end they ran out of depth. Summer recruitment will be key.
🐂 5. Pistolera Bulls
Explosive going forward with 71 goals scored (and conceded), setting two club records. Known for their all-attack 2-3-5 formation, they bring excitement every game. Bilgin’s absence often spells trouble—they may want to clone him!
🇫🇷 4. ERS
The most organized French outfit in years! Their defense was unmatched, conceding only 27 goals all season. Well-balanced, well-managed, and one to watch for a Top 3 finish next year.
🦁 3. Lions
Not a bad season, but just 61 goals scored showed a lack of finishing power. Only one point off second place. With older players stepping back and young Lions stepping in, the transition is underway. For the first time in years, the Lions were beatable—good for the league!
🎸 2. Hard Days Night
A massive leap from 7th to 2nd! With a solid mix of youth and experience, HDN was consistent all year. Peter took the SPL Top Scorer title with 20 goals, and they also claimed the most cards award—finally taking it from Bilgin’s Bulls.
🏆 1. Hawks – SPL Champions 2011/2012
With 90 goals scored and only 2 losses, they soared to the title using a massive rotating squad. Their top scorer had only 8 goals—meaning 28 other players chipped in. Their challenge now? Build consistency for next season.
