[SPL News] Finally Spring has arrived
Amigo’s and Amiga’s,
What a wild weather we had in March temperatures dropping like a stone and after that moving up like a rocket. It was a hard Sunday for us as the drizzle turned into rain during the day so we had no choice but to cancel two games. Yamada-san is getting more grey by the week as the schedule is tough this season ! As discussed at the Captains meeting we cannot allow postponements any longer.
We are pleased to announce that thanks to Gonzalo the goal keeper of the Flamenkos we started a collaboration with Estrella Galicia. Its one of the oldest and most famous beer companies in Spain. Founded in 1906 in the La Coruna area by the Rivena family. Until today the family still runs this company and they are involved in many sport related events, for instance they are the shirt sponsor of Deportivo La Coruna for many years. As they are trying to get a feet into the Chinese market we came up with the idea to help the promote their beer. Every week the Committee with the help of the referees will vote the “SPL team of the week”. The get the vote it can be for any reason as long it’s a positive contribution to what the SPL stands for Fun, Fair, Friends and Football ! The team of the week will receive free beer delivered to address they will give us / can be the sponsor bar or the house of the Captain for instance. In return the team will take a picture with our team of the week banner to put on our SPL website. We will start this weekend ! They just increased their total production to 250 mln liters per year so that should be enough for us !
- Galacticos 2-1 Super 48
Big game for the two teams at the bottom of the SPL. Super 48 looked young and aggressive on the day but the Galacticos were up for a fight. No goals half time but in the second half Tim Wright scored for the Galacticos 1-0. Super 48 responded straight with a Suarez dive tricking the referee and a goal 1-1. Man of the match was veteran Mike O Brian he scored the winner with a solid left foot strike 25 yards out ! First victory for the Galacticos and of course they had a good reason to celebrate until late !
- Pistolera Bulls 1-5 Gremio
Ailton was on fire and Bilgin troups were finding it hard to defend him. First half Gremio took a 0-3 lead but in the second half the Pistolera Bulls were the stronger team but failed to score. Two counter attacks sealed the win fr Gremio. Bilgin was trying to set a record three games in row without a yellow card but failed he is no going for the record most yellows in a season !
Unfortunately this was the first forfeit of the season / 18 Lions players had a training session at Waigaoqiao no Flamenkos around.
The weather looks good for our Easter Weekend round four games this time !
- 1000-1200 Super 48 – Pistolera Bulls
- 1200-1400 Japan – Lions
- 1400 – 1600 Galacticos – Flamenkos
- 1400-1600 Shanghai 2000 – ERS
Enjoy Spring in Shanghai best time of the year !
Cheers
