U9 played well at Sound of Spring Festival

It was a weekend of extreme weather with a Super Hot Saturday with temperatures close to 35 degrees. Usually, this only occurs later in August. This was followed by heavy thunderstorms on Sunday night. In the early morning, the organizer of the Sound of Spring festival was about to cancel the event as the weather forecast was predicting more rain… Luckily we informed all the parents that Sound of Spring ‘s Mini World Cup football tournament games will be ON! When we started the matches, the sky was clear blue with no more rain 🙂

For this tournament, our U9 Lions were scheduled to play 3 matches of 30 minutes on a 5 aside natural grass pitch. Icing on the cake, we were able to field 2 U9 Mini-Lions teams on the day. Helped by our first team players Yu Xuan and Kevin as coaches, we were ready to GO.

The most important for such young players is to have fun and enjoy the matches… This, we could see from the smile on their face. They also learned to play as a team and it was wonderful to see them managing to make several passes in a row. The reward came from several goals which were celebrated as if they just won the Champions League.

It was great to see that many parents and family came out to support. It helped our Mini-Lions a lot as playing 3 matches in the hot weather is not easy. At the end of the matches, all the players received a nice medal as a memory of this special day.

Well done young Lions! You made us proud with your performances.
